Scatologically Speaking

If you’ve ever been part of an anachronistically-based group, you have probably experienced the full range of emotions—from joy at finding kindred spirits, to disgust at how some aspects of the group is run. If you were in charge of the world (and who says you can’t be?) what would you change, eliminate, modify or otherwise make better? E-mail your comments and suggestions to the gripemeister@scatvia.com, and they may be posted here. Aliases are allowed (downright encouraged!) to protect the seriously annoyed. Decisions on posting particular comments are solely at the discretion of the Gripemaster, who will take into consideration many factors including (but not limited to!) originality and potential for humor.

If you’ve got aspirations to be a writer and director, hug your idea to yourself until you’ve produced it and submitted it for consideration in the World Science Fiction Convention Scatvian Film Festival.

If you have no such aspirations, submit it and we’ll see if one of the many talented Scatvians in the world can take your frown and turn it upside down. Be warned, though, posting your ideas/perceptions to this page totally absolves Scatvia of any copyright liabilities or royalty responsibilities since we have no way of giving you a copyright on your idea. Besides, five different people could take the same idea or frustration and come up with six or eight different storylines! The person who actually writes the script is the one with the copyright on that particular script, regardless of whether it’s been actually registered with the U.S. Government Copyright office. Some script-posting sites threaten legal action if an idea is stolen and used. All we promise to do is lampoon anyone who would be cheeky enough to steal an idea from us and not give appropriate credit where credit is due. These are all small clips, and as any one idea is unlikely to make your fortune, we recommend that people think carefully about whether stealing any one particular idea is worth the possible repercussions within the Anachronistic Community and from the particular author. However, we all need to keep our senses of humor about our particular rights. Remember that stealing from one place is plagiarism, stealing from multiple sources is original research!

Check out Projects and Plans and The Scatalina Marketplace for links to scripts available for production. Any aspiring directors will have to negotiate with the writer to be able to produce it with impunity. Really ambitious directors are recommended to check out Books that would make GREAT Movies to see what fans think are worth considering.
