| Scatalina’s
the place where
it can all come together. The Rennies, the serious Medievalists, the
Trekkers, the Gamers, Anachronists from all times and climes—and all
the venders who cater to them—are welcome to come, dance, meet other
enthusiasts, and trade goods or information and services. On this great
Ocean of Life, no man is an island—unless he really wants to be. If
there’s something you like to do, rest assured that there are
other people out there—just paddling along—who like it, too. Scatalina—floating
soon to a location near you! Visit
The
Scatalina Marketplace—where
you can see the sights and enthusiastically run up your own banner to
attract the notice of other like-minded people. Scajun Country—where we have friends in low, marshy places. Some aspire to the towering heights of Scadia’s castles and knighthood; others just want to do battle and drink beer. Never fear: a fight lurks around every bend as the swamp rats, foxes and pirates of the Scatonian Sea merrily clash whenever possible, following them up with parties galore! It’s Guerre-on-teed to be a lot of fun! Scadia—the idyllic dream of a nobler and more gracious society. Where pelicans perch on pilings at the water’s edge and encourage young nobles to scale the heights and overcome the obstacles to knighthood and ladyhood. The Early Americanas—a gathering of islands within easy reach of the mainland, dedicated to different aspects of American history. The Gaming Islands—an uncountable string of islands, each dedicated to a different form of game, whether board, live-action, computer, or cards. New islands emerge as new games are created, and others fade away under the ocean’s edge as interest wanes. The Pirate’s Cove—a mythical concept of a safe homeplace for pirates. In reality, wherever five or more pirate ships get together, they’re about as safe as can be when floating on an uncertain ocean. There are unconfirmed rumors of a Pirate King! The Fantasy Forest—This forest primeval stretches down to the Scatonian Sea, and none knows precisely what lurks within. Was that a unicorn we saw peeking out at us from behind a tree? Or possibly just a white hart? Is that a phoenix perched in the branches of a poplar tree or a parrot on the finger of a hamadryad? Who knows may be just around the path.... Use your imagination and find out! The Space Station—fixed in geosynchronic orbit directly over certain of the Gaming Islands (for security purposes we can’t say precisely which!) and which may be reached by means of the Space Shuttle or by other various spacecraft.... Scatvia—is both a communication link between the various types of anachronists, and a form of social commentary, looking at ourselves and our various foibles and fallacies in all new ways. The important role that the Scatvians play is to remind us that we’re all floating on this ocean together. It’s very easy to get mad at other people and paddle off in your own direction. It’s a lot harder to rise above it and see where other people are floundering in the same ways and reach out to them. If we don’t learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it. Small lifelines, cast out in just the right time and direction can make a huge difference to stabilize all our crafts and let us float along happier and easier. Tune in on a regular basis to see what we're laughing about now! (Or to see quite how explosive methane can be when bottled up too tightly and then ignited!) Will they be explosions of laughter or outrage? We don't know, but it's going to be fun! Beyond the Horizon—are many more islands dedicated to whichever portion of the past—or the future!—you may desire to explore. Raise up your flag to announce your interest, paddle off in quest thereof, and it may be interesting to see who follows behind! |
