Skit—Pop Goes the Weasel!

Written by Jacqueline Britton

FADE to two knights carrying rattan swords and a fairly large bush (about shoulder-high on the knights). One knight has a monkey emblazoned on his tabard, the other has a weasel. Both of these animals are in colors which are complimentary to the background colors of the tabards, yet may not be confused with pre-existing arms of any knight in the Knowne World—check with a herald). The audience can tell they’re knights, because of the large, prominent spurs on boots, "gold" chains around necks which are suitable for hanging lamps, and three-inch wide white belts.

MUSIC—Pop Goes the Weasel is playing as the two knights are tiptoeing around the bush, one trying to sneak up on the other. As the music reaches the POP!, the stalking knight pops the front knight a real bell-ringer of a blow to his helm, which causes the "Weasel" to change direction and start tiptoeing after "Monkey" who is tiptoeing around bush as quickly as he can and still stay in rhythm to the music. As the second verse is coming to a close and the weasel is reaching out to POP the monkey, the monkey’s sword comes up to block the weasel’s blow, monkey swivels and strikes out at weasel who dies a suitable (although not too dramatically overextended) death.

CAMERA WIDENS enough to show audience who has begun applauding the death scene.
